Texas Home Care Support Services for Seniors

Home support services for Seniors!

Questions that I hear often from Texas family caregivers are “how can we find the home care services that are right for my relative?”  Family members across Austin, Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, El Paso, and Ft. Worth grapple with the same concern.  “Where do we begin the search for good care for mom & dad?”, is another question that comes up.  It’s always satisfying helping family members out with these tough senior concerns.. Home Care!

What’s recommended in finding a home care service is talk to your doctor, nurse practitioner, physical therapist or occupational therapist about what services you’ll need.  I always put in the mix of geriatric experts, a geriatric care manager or nurse. You may only require an occasional visit from a nurse to administer medication, or you may need more elaborate medical care or other types of support like companionship services; light house keeping, cooking, transportation, shopping, etc.

Your nurse, doctor, hospital social worker or hospital discharge planner may be able to recommend several reputable home health care and home care agencies in Texas. Remember to ask friends or family members to provide some insight into which home care services provide the best care.

Another good source is the phone book yellow page, under the listing “Home Health Care Services” or “Nurses.” Other sources include your state and county health department and Area Agencies on Aging and the national Eldercare Locator, a public service of the Administration on Aging.

Sometimes it’s difficult figuring out what types of services you need – so, contact WorkingCaregiver.com to help you.  After you know what is needed, it’s highly recommended to evaluate the costs, credentials and services offered by each provider you are considering.

Locating the right home care services in Texas requires talking with your doctor, medical professionals you are familiar with, or other health professionals in your local Texas city, and doing some research. Please know that qualified home care is a viable option that can improve the quality of life of both the person receiving care and the family members.

Thank you.  Carol@WorkingCaregiver.com.
